The Ernie Large Sailing Award

The Ernie Large Sailing Awards are in memory of one of the KSSA founding members. They started in the early 80’s and are awarded most years at the KSSA annual Regatta to help a person with a project “to help extend their horizons – push their limits in sailing”.

We would like to make an award in 2008 to a young man -
• Who started sailing with KSSA in the late 90’s
• Had many impressive results in the Topper Class at local and national level
• Been equally distinguished more recently in double-handers and currently ‘flying’ in a 29er
• Kent Team member in Team Racing & Match Racing at national level
• Awarded his KSSA Sailing Colours in 2007
• Kent Team Captain in 2008
• Recently gained his RYA Sailing Instructor Qualification

The 2008 Ernie Large Sailing Award goes to Ed Cowell of Broadstairs Sailing Club. The KSSA Executive Committee have recognised his teaching and coaching skills and recommend Ed for a place on a Racing Coaches Course at the earliest opportunity.
