TOP STORY : NSSA winning captain and Laser champ Stan Chick of the KSSA on how he went from holiday fun to national schools' champion

"The purpose of the KSSA is to provide opportunities for youth sailors to further their sailing, racing and coaching skills at different events and venues across Kent throughout the year."

Welcome from the Commodore,

The KSSA is a voluntary organisation which aims to encourage all keen youth sailors to develop their sailing skills through a range of Kent-based sailing events. Throughout the year we organise training and racing events at sea and inland venues.

Whatever your level, we encourage all sailors to come along and get involved. Our members range from 8-18yrs and are individuals from sailing clubs and schools across Kent who sail a range of boats, both single and double-handed.

Come and join us at one of our regular training events. These are usually led by a guest coach who is supported by a team of fully qualified and highly experienced instructors. All abilities and boats are catered for. Coaching support is also given at our racing events to encourage new racers.

We have opportunities for members to get involved in team-racing in Toppers and double-handed boats. This is often a new experience for many of our members but has become very popular.

A highlight of our calendar is our Training Regatta at the end of June when members camp for two days of training and racing. This is a great opportunity to get to know other members of the Kent team on and off the water.

Many members, of all abilities form the KSSA Team and race at the NSSA (National Schools Sailing Association) Youth Regatta. We are very proud of all of the KSSA team’s achievements which has meant that Kent has been the winning team for the last 4 years. This year’s event is to be held at Datchet Water and we hope to take a strong team of keen sailors to this event.

Whether you are new to sailing or have extensive experience at club or squad we would like to welcome you to one of our events.

See you on the water,
Sarah White
