Revue of 2003

Achievements for 2003
Continued training with the GBR Squad.
UK Youth Nationals – competed in a fleet of over 100 Laser Radials. After a race programme of 12 races I finished only one point behind my arch rival and was 2nd female and 6th overall.
I was selected for RYA Youth Squad 2004.
The RYA selected my arch rival to represent GBR at the ISAF Youth Worlds in Maderia. I had hoped to go but there is always next year

Europa Cup events at Warnemunde and Aathus finishing 11th and 1st female respectively.

The main event of my programme for 2003 was to compete at the Laser Radial Youth World and European Championships at Lake Garda.
The boats were taken out for us and we as the GBR team flew out in time for two days practice. My parents drove out in the camper to be team supporters. It was extremely hot and the Ora wind strong so I was overjoyed at reaching the Gold Fleet and coming 3rd female in World results and being crowned 1st youth female of Europe. The competition was fierce with even some of the youth sailors of the world almost professionals.

This event was rapidly followed by the UK Nationals in Largs. The week was windy and wet (whilst all you in the South ere basking in hot sun). I finished 19th overall and 2nd female, this time it was arch rival who beat me.

The remaining Laser Class event was held at Bewl Valley for the Inland Championships where I was 1st female and 2nd overall

There have been a number of Laser Class Qualifier events at Stokes Bay, Highcliffe, Tenby, Pwllhelli where I have finished always in the top ten and my Current UK Laser Radial ranking 2nd and 1st female.

I have also enjoyed being able to join in at some of the Kent Schools Sailing Association training days and racing, where I first learnt to race

Following the UK Laser National Championships in August 2003 I was asked to a trial to sail in the Olympic female boat, in preparation for my transition in to the Europe. I am currently trying to purchase a Europe dinghy, so that I can commence my Olympic campaign.

2004 will see much of the same with my prime objective to be selected to represent GBR at the ISAF Youth Worlds Championships in Poland. I have also set a goal to be chosen by the RYA to go to the Laser Radial Youth Worlds in Brisbane. There will in addition to this be the Europa Cup events, together with the UK Laser Class Qualifiers.

My parents remain as my sponsors for my sail racing campaign and I would always be appreciative of their assistance in helping me fulfil my dream to go to the Olympics and bring home a medal.
